This novel was written by Jane Austen and published for the first time in 1811, under the pseudonym "A Lady." Its huge success was evidenced by the fact that it was translated into French as early as 1815, when the writer was still alive.
protagonists are two sisters, Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, after the death of his father, are deprived of all their property. This is because, at the time of Jane Austen, the women could inherit property only if there were sons in the family. The two girls, with her mother and younger sister are so forced to live in an atmosphere of intolerance, with brother John and his wife selfish.
The women then decided to move to a modest cottage in the countryside.
